Schmidt Thompson® I Valve – Abrasive Metering Valve
Sku: P-GV2149
The Schmidt® Thompson I Valve is an abrasive metering valve designed to control the amount of blast media entering the high-pressure air stream in pressure-hold abrasive blasting systems.
Its threaded-plunger metering design provides fine adjustment of abrasive flow, helping operators balance cutting performance with abrasive consumption. Proper abrasive metering can improve blasting productivity while reducing excess media use and dust generation.
The Thompson I Valve also provides fast start and stop control. When the deadman control is released, abrasive flow is stopped quickly while the blast pot remains pressurized. This pressure-hold operation reduces unnecessary depressurization, abrasive loss, and air consumption between blast cycles.
Because abrasive flow can be shut off while airflow remains available, the operator can quickly switch to compressed-air blowdown for cleaning the blasted surface. This also makes touch-up and spot blasting easier to control. The Thompson I is available in three nipple size configurations to suit different blast machine setups and can be fitted to many sandblast pots, blast hoppers, and abrasive blasting machines.
It is also compatible with many slurry blasters, mist blasters, sodablasters, amphiblasters, and vapor blasting systems. Replacement repair parts remain available for service and maintenance. The Thompson I remains available for existing systems, although the more modern Thompson II Valve and TeraValve are more commonly specified today. Compatible blast pots fitted with a Thompson I can be upgraded to these newer metering valves without equipment modification.
