Our Story

From Backyard Shed to Corporate Offices on Five Continents
Founded in 1975 by Gar Gooden in Adelaide, Australia – BlastOne (originally BlastMaster) is a family-owned business that grew to global prominence through dedicated customer service, and eventually merged with two complimentary family businesses Blastech and Masterfield in 2015. Thus, BlastOne International was officially born.
From originally housing all blasting and painting products in a backyard shed to now owning scores of warehouses worldwide, BlastOne’s commitment to our customers’ success continues to spur our own growth and global reach.

LEADERSHIP


Matthew Rowland has been steering the helm at BlastOne International since October 2017, initially as CEO of the Asia-Pacific region and now as the Global CEO. His leadership is characterized by a relentless pursuit of excellence, ensuring that team performance consistently surpasses the high expectations of BlastOne’s discerning clientele.
Matthew brings to the table a wealth of international experience in business and general management, having contributed significantly to multinational organizations across diverse sectors like dairy, mining, food & beverage, chemicals, and water treatment. His rich background includes senior executive positions at Orica Watercare in Australia and the USA, and Orica Chemnet in New Zealand, testament to his versatile and dynamic leadership capabilities.


With a legacy spanning over four decades, the founder of BlastOne International has been a pivotal figure in shaping the company into a global knowledge leader and innovative supplier in the Protective & Marine Coatings Industry. Since joining the company in 1981, he has played a multitude of roles, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the business from the ground up.
His journey with BlastOne has seen him evolve from the General Manager of Blastmaster Australia to the Global CEO, a position he held with distinction from 2010 until 2020. Currently serving as an Advisor in the Columbus, Ohio office, he continues to drive the company’s commitment to developing faster, safer, and cleaner technologies for Surface Preparation and Industrial Coating Applications. His enduring vision and expertise are integral to BlastOne’s ongoing success and industry leadership.


Mark Lee currently serves as Global CFO at BlastOne International, bringing deep financial expertise and global business experience to support the company’s continued growth and operational performance. His role focuses on strengthening financial strategy, driving disciplined decision-making, and aligning global operations with long-term business objectives.
Prior to joining BlastOne, Mark spent over 16 years with ExxonMobil, where he held a series of progressive leadership roles across finance, treasury, and strategic planning. His experience spans multiple business units, including pipeline, marine, and low-emission fuels, with responsibilities ranging from financial markets and planning to M&A portfolio management. His career has included both domestic and international leadership roles, including time in Thailand, giving him a well-rounded view of global financial operations in complex industrial environments.


Marco Bernabucci serves as President of Industrial Solutions at BlastOne International, where he leads the development and execution of operational strategies that strengthen the company’s industrial capabilities and global footprint. His leadership is grounded in driving operational excellence, scaling manufacturing performance, and aligning teams around disciplined, data-driven execution.
Marco brings extensive international experience across industrial automation, automotive, oil & gas, and rail industries. Prior to joining BlastOne, he served as Chief Operating Officer at FFT Production Systems, where he was responsible for overseeing operations, advancing manufacturing strategy, and leading large-scale transformation initiatives. Earlier in his career, he held key operational leadership roles with organizations such as COMAU, where he focused on industrial reorganization, supply chain strategy, capital investment planning, and the implementation of lean manufacturing practices across global operations.


Piermatteo Nissotti serves as Vice President of APAC at BlastOne International, where he leads regional strategy and operations across Asia-Pacific, driving growth and strengthening customer engagement in key industrial and defence markets. His leadership focuses on delivering consistent performance, expanding market presence, and aligning regional teams with BlastOne’s global standards.
Piermatteo brings nearly two decades of experience in asset preservation, marine, and defense sectors, with deep expertise in surface preparation, coatings, and large-scale project delivery. Prior to joining BlastOne, he spent 19 years with Eptec Group, where he held a series of senior leadership roles including General Manager Defense and National Marine Manager. During this time, he led high-profile programs supporting the Royal Australian Navy and other critical infrastructure, managing complex operations and ensuring strict quality and compliance standards.


Jim Gooden has been an integral part of BlastOne International since 1989. Over the past 30+ years, Jim has gained extensive experience across various departments within the company. Now, as the EVP of Global Development based in the Columbus office, he plays a pivotal role in expanding the business with commercialization of new technologies and new geographies. His responsibilities include developing growth strategies, engaging with senior industry figures, and coaching and developing the various teams and systems.
Jim’s journey with BlastOne reflects the company’s nearly 50-year history as a specialist consultant and supplier in the protective coating and corrosion control industry. His expertise contributes significantly to BlastOne’s reputation for offering knowledgeable technical advice and cost-effective solutions in surface preparation and coating. Focusing on heavy industry and marine sectors, Jim’s leadership extends to various industries, including pipelines, refineries, chemical plants, and more.
With a global presence spanning the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom, Jim’s role in global development is crucial in upholding BlastOne’s commitment to delivering exceptional advice, products, and services worldwide.


A member of BlastOne since December 1990, Graeme now leads as the Director of Technology and Innovation. His career, starting in Blastech/Technicote, has seen him excel in various roles, including Salesman and Director. Currently, he is pivotal in resolving technical challenges and driving product innovation.
Under his direction, BlastOne has become a leading provider in the Asia-Pacific for industrial blasting and surface preparation, known for its innovative and high-performing products. Graeme specializes in developing cost-effective blasting solutions that improve industrial finishes and productivity. He has been instrumental in creating BlastOne’s product line, notably the GMA Garnet abrasives, enhancing the company’s market position.
Graeme’s strategic leadership is crucial in keeping BlastOne at the industry’s forefront, ensuring the delivery of top-quality products and services and maintaining the company’s commitment to excellence globally.


The General Manager in Innovation and R&D at BlastOne International brings over 20 years of experience in GM Engineering and Finance, with a background in the Aviation, Manufacturing, and Consulting sectors. Known for an energetic and commercially focused leadership style, this leader excels in innovation and driving business improvement and change. Proficient in financial and project management, they have strong analytical skills and a proven ability to develop and implement strategies for business growth and achieving organizational objectives.
Since joining BlastOne International 5 years and 10 months ago, they have held pivotal roles including General Manager Industrial Solutions and currently, Innovation Director. In these positions, they have led the Industrial Solutions division, overseeing operational and financial performance, developing new business opportunities, and managing customer engagement. Their expertise in overseeing product design, sourcing, and solution delivery has been instrumental in the division’s success.
Their leadership is marked by skills in negotiation, team management, change management, and a keen commercial and financial acumen, making them a vital asset to BlastOne International in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.


Andrew McCaffery serves as Vice President of Strategy and Corporate Development at BlastOne International, where he leads initiatives focused on long-term growth, strategic planning, and corporate expansion. His role centers on identifying new opportunities, supporting investment decisions, and aligning business strategy with BlastOne’s global objectives.
Andrew brings experience in corporate strategy and governance, with a background that includes board-level involvement and advisory roles supporting business growth and development. Prior to joining BlastOne, he held board and observer positions with organizations such as Arglass and Energy Vault, contributing to strategic oversight and helping guide business direction during key growth phases.


Tim Franklin-Hensler serves as Vice President at BlastOne International, where he leads growth-focused initiatives centered on expanding the company’s capabilities, footprint, and strategic partnerships. His role includes overseeing major growth projects, from new facilities and geographic expansion to the development of adjacent products and services.
Tim brings a strong background in private equity and industrial investment, with experience managing and scaling portfolios of industrial companies. Prior to joining BlastOne, he spent eight years with Prime Natural Resources, where he led portfolio operations and supported acquisitions, divestitures, and strategic initiatives across investments ranging from mid-market to large-scale enterprises. Earlier in his career, he worked in strategy consulting at Accenture, focusing on corporate transformation and operating model design.


Laura Fisher serves as Senior Vice President of Global Supply Chain at BlastOne International, where she leads the end-to-end supply chain strategy across the organization. Her focus is on improving operational performance, strengthening resilience, and optimizing global sourcing, logistics, and procurement to support scalable growth.
Laura brings over 20 years of experience in manufacturing and supply chain leadership, with a track record of driving transformation through data-driven decision-making and lean methodologies. Prior to joining BlastOne, she served as Vice President of Global Supply Chain at Sundyne, where she led initiatives to improve supply chain efficiency and operational effectiveness. She also spent more than 14 years with Johns Manville, advancing through leadership roles in global logistics, operational excellence, and supply chain management.


Josh Kliner joined BlastOne International as Global CIO in January of 2024. With extensive experience leading organizations through digital transformations, Josh is responsible for guiding BlastOne’s technology and data strategies. In addition to overseeing all aspects of the global enterprise systems, Josh is enhancing the digital capabilities of the company’s product portfolio, overseeing organizational architecture and digital process improvements.
Josh brings a deep experience growing and directing high-performing, diverse teams. His rich experience includes senior positions in a variety of industries including government contracting, research and development, retail, banking, and management consulting services. Josh has actively contributed to thought leadership in Program Management Offices, start-up funding and organization, and has been recognized for excellence in leading ERP programs. Josh’s diverse background and deep experience is well suited to growing BlastOne’s global technology capabilities to meet the needs of our customers.

Blastone’s corporate values include Humility and Passion. These are employed to not only make us a better business – but also better neighbors. Outside the goal of being the most referred corrosion control company, we strive to improve the lives of our employees and those in the greater community. Our internal Employee Engagement Committee identifies, plans, and executes charitable events in and around the areas where we have locations. We assist those in need through financial donations, distribution of materials, employee volunteer events, and assistance with fundraising.
