DeFelsko® ASTM Tape and ISO Tape for Cross Hatch Adhesion Testing

DeFelsko® replacement ASTM D3359 Tape and ISO Tape are used with the PosiTest® CH Cross Hatch Adhesion Tester as well as any other compatible testing device, when evaluating the adhesion of coatings to a substrate. In a cross hatch adhesion test, the coating is cut into a controlled lattice pattern, the specified Cross Hatch Adhesion Test Tape is applied over the cuts, and the tape is removed according to the applicable test procedure. The resulting coating removal is then evaluated using the classification requirements of the selected standard.

The ASTM Tape, MPN CHASTMTAPE and SKU INDCHASTMTAPE, is supplied specifically for ASTM D3359 cross hatch adhesion testing. Each roll is 1 inch wide by 90 yards long. Using the correct ASTM Tape is important because the test method relies on controlled procedures and specified test materials rather than general-purpose adhesive tape.

The ISO Tape, MPN CHDTISOTAPE and SKU INDCHDTISOTAPE, is supplied for ISO 2409 cross cut adhesion testing and is also identified by the manufacturer for ISO 8502-3 applications. Each ISO roll is 1 inch wide by 72 yards long. ASTM Tape and ISO Tape should be selected according to the test standard being followed rather than treated as interchangeable rolls.

Each replacement tape roll includes a completed Certificate of Conformance identifying the tape lot number. This provides traceability for inspection records and quality documentation where the tape used for a Cross Hatch Adhesion Test must be recorded.
