Today I want to talk about increasing your blasting speed by 20%, especially when you have weather coming up.

Let’s say you’ve got a new project, the five day project, you’ve got four days until weather comes. It’s going to be raining, it’s going to be snowing, it’s going to be extreme heat. You can’t blast and paint. What do you do?

I’m going to recommend that you find a way of getting the job done in four days. That way you’re off the site. Done a couple of ways you can do that. I’ll give you three.

Number one, always give you guys an incentive. So tell them, look, guys, we’ve got rain coming in four days. If you can get this tank completely blast in three, I’ll give you $300 each. It’s like, whoa, who wasn’t going to do this? The guys will be incentivised to give you a quality job in your specified timeline.

They might tell you that, hey, we got to work 12 to 14 hour days to do this, boss. And you say? Absolutely. If I can take a whole week off my job, it’s worth it.

To do that, the second point, you might need to rent a DH unit. Dehumidifier of a job means you can blast the whole thing until it’s completely blasted so it won’t flash rust, and then you paint it. We found that one painting can keep up with at least 4 or 5 guys, but completely blast the job and then paint.

Third point insist on using GMA Garnet. It is the fastest abrasive for new steel and removing existing coatings that we’ve identified as available in the marketplace. Use it every time and you will save money. I guarantee it.

Thanks for watching this week’s Primed Insight. See you next week!
