DAILY HELMET HYGIENE

1. Exterior Helmet Inspection

  • Helmet Shell – check for cracks and damage
  • Visor & Lenses – check to make sure safety and visibility is intact
  • Cape & Bib – make sure is clean and not holding contaminants

2.  Internal Helmet Inspection

  • Check overall cleanliness
  • Wash with Soap & Water – Do not use household cleaners
  • MAKE SURE HELMET IS COMPLETELY DRY BEFORE EVER APPLYING OVER HEAD

3.  Remove Helmet from dusty and contaminated work areas each day

  • Hang helmet in a clean, dry location

4.  If Helmet is clean but SMELLS, use a commercial aerosol sanitiser.  Do not use home cleaning products.

DEEP CLEANING YOUR HELMET

 1.  Remove Bib & Pads from Helmet

  • Wash the components or replace.  Oftentimes it is more cost effective to replace the inner components if work environment require weekly (or greater) deep cleaning
  • Wash by hand in cold water or use a gentle cycle washing machine
  • Do NOT dry with electric dryers as it will corrupt adhesion
  • NEVER apply helmet back on head until all components and helmet are COMPLETELY DRY
